At Le Rêve Rittenhouse Day Spa, we use a type of electrolysis called thermolysis. As of right now, electrolysis is the only form of permanent hair removal that is approved by the FDA with thermolysis treatments dating back to 1923. During a thermolysis treatment, a needle transmits a current which, due to its high frequency, vibrates the hair follicle, which in turn irritates the water molecules surrounding its base. Heat is produced to thicken the fluid which results in the termination of the hair follicle. Results are quick and instantly visible. Electrolysis is an ongoing process and it is important to realize with all methods of electrolysis, treatment of large and dense areas of hair will be very time-consuming.
